Welcome Home from Vietnam is a first-time ever event in Pigeon Forge, TN celebrating the service and sacrifice of America?s Vietnam Veterans.? It?s a complete with Reviewing Stand, Celebrity Parade Marshals including Adrian Cronauer, the DJ/radio personality on whom Good Morning, Vietnam was based, confetti cannons, Military Vehicles, colorful floats and marching bands.? This is perhaps the first chance for many Vietnam Veterans to march or ride in a Military Parade and hear the cheers and applause of their family, friends and the Nation.
?This is a most unique moment in American History,? according to Bob Cline of U.S. Tours, ? it is the first time that a ticker-tape style parade has been delayed so long that the marching soldiers are now grandparents.? Rather than being welcomed home at an age where they are celebrating a return to civilian life with the promise of a future in front of them; these men and women are marching in celebration of lives lived, services rendered and freedoms guaranteed ? for the families they?ve already raised.?
The Free Parade is on Tuesday, April 16.? It will make available troop transports for Vets who can?t march the distance and there are reserved seats by the reviewing stand for every spouse.? This is the centerpiece of an April 15-18 travel package co-produced by U.S. Tours, the City of Pigeon Forge, the theaters of the Smokies, and TAP, the Travel Alliance Partners. This long overdue event is sponsored in part by many local and regional business?s listed on www.WelcomeHomeVietnam.com.? Their sponsorship and generosity also provides a charitable donation to the Tennessee Chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America.
